Signs of the Season

Newsletter - December 15, 2023

I've been having a lot of fun the past couple of weeks.

Because it's Christmas Market Season.

I've been to three of them now. One was in a local hall and I participated in, selling my books. One was in our local greenhouse/cafe/ bakery. One of my favourite places in our local town. And the last one was in a hall in my daughter's neighbourhood in Calgary.

I loved walking around the booths, seeing vendors and what they had for sale. It was alway such a variety and I really had to be careful to pace myself spending-wise.

I bought some fancy cupcakes. A really pretty carved bird necklace, some cards and a couple of hand-made ornaments.

Because my focus is trying to get rid of things, I managed to talk myself out of a couple of gorgeous wall hangings and a metal sign. It's too bad because they were so pretty and would have looked good.....well....on the wall that I would have to take things down from to make room for the new things.

Anyhow, I'm sharing some pictures from the markets.

Did you make it to any Christmas markets this year?

Like I said, it was truly enjoyable. And snacks and apple cider didn't hurt either. Going to these markets was such a wonderful way to get into the mood of the season. The music and the atmosphere was so cozy and what was offered gave me some great gift ideas.

On the writing front, I'm finally finished the first book in my new Kittering Creek series. Writing this book has been a challenge, but I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

It won't be out for awhile yet. I want to get the second book done before I publish the first one. That way, as I work through the books, I know I can put them out on a regular basis.

In other writing news, I'm teaming up with six other sweet romance authors and we're putting together a fun project. We got together and created a fictional island called Sanctuary Sound in Lake Michigan. Each of us is writing a book that takes place on this island.

The books will be coming out in the summer of 2024. I'll let you know more about the project the closer we get to putting the books out. We'll be putting together a Facebook group as well to help give you more information about the Island and the stories we'll be writing.

Leonard is taking a week off from writing. He says his paws are sore. Not surprised. it's been unseasonably warm and he and his pal, Rusty, have continued  digging on a hole that was, for a time, frozen up. I don't know why they are so stuck on this spot when they have 160 acres they can dig to their heart's content. This particular hole is right by my sidewalk. Sigh. They don't seem to care when I get angry with them either.

So that's it for now
