Summertime and the living is musical

Greetings this warm summer day! At least it's warm here. Has been for the past week again. We've been enjoying sunny day after sunny day as the crops start to ripen and the days are slowly getting shorter.

Well, as short as they get up here. The sun doesn't really go down until about 9:30 ish but, hey, we have a few hours of darkness!

I've been keeping life low-key the past couple of weeks. Writing and taking my needy dogs for walks, watering my flower pots and enjoying fresh potatoes, beans and carrots out of the garden. I'm always glad my husband is willing to take care of the vegetable garden. I'm not willing to do the weeding but I am willing to do the eating!

Last weekend was a busy one for me, but oh so enjoyable. I got to hang out with two of my kids at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. It was three full days of a huge variety of folk music artists, playing over seven stages with one main stage show each evening. I put on a lot of steps walking around the grounds from the stages to the food trucks, back to main stage where our tarp claimed our spot for the day and evening. The days were warm and there was a bit of basking in the sun, but when it got too hot, I tried to find shade along with hundreds of other people. It was a fantastic experience.

The highlight was the last song of the last night when thousands of people held up candles and all sang the Alberta Folk Classic, Four Strong Winds written by Alberta's Ian Tyson. If you haven't listened to his music, well worth checking out. He's one of my favourite artists. Unfortunately he passed away in 2022, but his music lives on.
