Multitasking

As well as sewing, I've recently take up knitting again. Also, something I've done since I was a little girl. My mom used to laugh at me when I was younger, telling me that I took the idle hands quotation a little bit too far. I would have a book open on my lap while I was watching television and I would read and knit through the commercials. Made perfect sense to me.

Now that I'm knitting again, I still like to do two things at once. But it's harder to have a book on my lap and read while I knit and keep the page where I want it. And I have to confess, that if the book is kind of long and thick, it's hard to hold it at the right angle so I can focus on it properly.

That's when gadgets come to the rescue for me. Sidenote, I love gadgets. I have stuff put in carts all over the Internet, from Facebook ads, things people have told me about, things I've seen on Pinterest. All things that will make my life easier, but also will cost me money. So it's always a tossup.

Anyway, I don't know as I would call this a gadget as much as an accessory. It holds my book at exactly the right angle, and I even bought myself a little reading light to clip onto the stand. I can have my book in front of me, and knit at the same time. Such an elegant solution. I've had this one in a cart for a while, and then finally realized maybe I didn't need it exactly, but I sure wanted it. And now that I have it, it's getting kind of indispensable and I'm so glad I got it.

What about you? How do you like reading? If you like paperbacks, check out the link in the menu above. I also sell most of my books in Large Print as well. So, you have options.
